U.S. Businesses Support Refugees

Refugees are essential to our economy and our communities.

U.S. businesses are uniquely positioned to offer refugees the opportunity to rebuild their lives. It is the right thing to do, and it strengthens our economy, our workplaces, and our communities. Businesses are integral to this effort. Refugees embody characteristics that U.S. businesses deeply value—resilience, dependability, and determination—and they bring with them valuable skills.

The Pledge

In 2021, business leaders across the United States signed a pledge showing support to our nation’s refugees and displaced people. The pledge is focused on a world where refugees are valued, welcomed, and included. Refugees make our communities stronger and our industries more competitive. The leaders recognize and appreciate the critical role of refugees and other vulnerable immigrants in contributing to our businesses, our communities, and our country. The pledge supports creating safe and welcoming communities for all and recognize a responsibility to:

  • Listen to and amplify the voices of those seeking safety in the United States;

  • Advance policies that support diversity, equity, inclusion, and the safety of refugees and other vulnerable immigrants;

  • Engage in dialogue on the importance of refugee resettlement and inclusion, including decent work;

  • Speak out in support of inclusive policies and practices;

  • Call upon other businesses to adopt this pledge as a step toward greater inclusion and prosperity in the United States.

Continue to Support the Pledge

Leaders who signed the Businesses for Refugees pledge have an opportunity to take part in collaborations with local and national efforts to support displaced people.

Didn’t sign the pledge? That’s okay! Businesses can continue to seek out ways to support refugees. Visit our “Get Involved” page to learn how.
